Unlike desktop computing skills, such as word processing or spreadsheet manipulation, social networking is experiential in nature. <br />Event Description: Adult social care is the largest single service provided by local authorities. It has not been protected from expenditure cuts – unlike hospitals or schools – and will have to make real savings over the rest of the decade. At the same time it faces unprecedented increases in demands for its services. This conference will examine some new approaches to services which have delivered real sustainable savings while protecting front line services. Many of these approaches are being, or have been, successfully replicated elsewhere. They are tried and trusted techniques which others can apply to reduce costs and protect front line services in their own authorities.
